House 266
House 266 is a thoughtfully designed duplex apartment for a family, blending boho-modern aesthetics with an affinity for patterns. The design emphasizes layering complementary details over the builder’s basic finishes to achieve a cohesive and unified look. Natural wood, marble floors, and black accents come together to create a minimal yet vibrant space, enhanced by strategic use of color and patterns for added character and charm.

The primary challenge was to work with the builder’s existing finishes while transforming the space into a personalized, functional, and aesthetically pleasing home. It was essential to optimize space planning to ensure comfort and practicality for the family’s daily needs and gatherings. Creating a harmonious balance between minimalism and the family’s love for vibrant patterns was another key consideration. Additionally, the design required flexibility in communal spaces, allowing them to adapt to different occasions.
The design retained the builder’s original finishes, layering natural wood and marble elements with black accents to add warmth and definition. Tone-on-tone painted doors were introduced to blend seamlessly with the walls, visually expanding the space. Special attention was given to space planning, with functional elements like banquet seating in the dining area, which serves everyday needs and adapts effortlessly for larger gatherings.
Sliding and folding partitions were installed in the living and dining areas, enabling the spaces to merge or separate as needed, ensuring flexibility and functionality. The overall aesthetic remains minimal and contemporary, with pops of color and patterned accents strategically incorporated to bring vibrancy and character to the home. The result is a versatile, engaging, and cohesive living space that reflects the family’s lifestyle and preferences.
