Ranna Gill Kila
Nestled amidst the historic Mughal-era architecture in Mehrauli, Delhi, the Ranna Gill store at Kila beautifully blends the period features of the building with a modern contemporary aesthetic.
This project thoughtfully expands the existing store by integrating an adjacent rear space while preserving the architectural integrity of the site. To address the lack of natural light in the rear area, we opened up the shopfront to create a visual and functional connection. The point-of-sale counter, strategically placed at the center of the two stores, serves as a seamless feature link between the spaces. To further enhance the lighting, backlit onyx panels provide a glowing display for feature collections, while an artificial skylight ensures a cohesive, well-lit environment.
The store boasts an L-shaped shopfront with a magnificent tree in the building’s courtyard, creating a serene and picturesque setting. The full collection is displayed along the racks, enhancing the Ranna Gill shopping experience. A large suspended feature, crafted from metal and onyx, serves as a striking display for top-selling collections while also acting as a versatile visual merchandising element at the store’s entrance.
A well-appointed store, it includes two inviting fitting rooms, complemented by linear seating—because who doesn’t love a small break or a convenient bag rest during a shopping spree?
The store’s concept is based on a multilayered monochromatic design, allowing for dynamic and ever-changing merchandise displays. The aesthetic serves as a subtle yet signature backdrop, ensuring the products take center stage. The well-balanced layout provides ample room for natural movement and circulation, encouraging an effortless browsing experience. The informal spatial arrangement is intentional, making shoppers feel relaxed and at home.
One of the store’s most distinctive features is its iconic inlay flooring, an abstract representation of weaving, which intuitively guides shoppers through the space. The understated material palette contributes to a visually airy atmosphere, while refined detailing highlights the striking femininity that embodies the Ranna Gill brand. Delicately lit floating hangers, mirrored platforms, and carefully curated natural lighting all pay homage to Ranna Gill’s signature style.
Lighting takes center stage, meticulously integrated into the store’s design and flow. This strategic lighting approach highlights the merchandise, elevates the shopping experience, and creates a warm, inviting ambiance.
